Steven Fang

Dr. Steven Fang founded CordLife Singapore in 2001, and merged his company with Cytomatrix USA in 2003. The merged companies were renamed CyGenics Ltd which successfully Listed 18th June 2004 on the Australian Stock Exchange. CyGenics was subsequently renamed CordLife in 2007 to focus on its core business of Human Umbilical Cord Blood Banking. It continues its technology development through Cytomatrix in strategic partnership with Australia’s Deakin University. In March 2012, Cordlife Ltd spun out its matured businesses into Cordlife Group (CGL) Ltd which subsequently listed on SGX.

Steven has over 25 years of Market and Corporate Development experiences in the healthcare, medical device and biotechnology industry. Past management track record includes such global MNCs as Sterling Winthrop (GSK – LSE/NYSE), Baxter Inc (BAX – NYSE) and Becton Dickinson (BDX – NYSE). During his tenure, Steven helmed various functional and managerial positions in United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Steven was the General Manager for South East Asia at Becton Dickinson before starting Cordlife.

Steven currently serves on the Singapore British Business Council, Advisory Board for Ngee Ann Polytechnic Life Science (LSAC), Pro-Enterprise Panel (PEP) with the Singapore Ministry of Trade, Deputy Chairman with SPRING’s Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) and currently serves on the Ministry of Education – ASPIRE R3 Committee. He was previously the Chairman of Bio Singapore and served as Chairman / President of Spirit of Enterprise (SOE). Steven incubated 6 other technology startups as founder or as an Angle Investor and coach. He is also a Member of the Singapore Institute of Director.

Steven holds his first degree in Computer Science, an MBA in Corporate Strategy with the University of Hull (UK), eMBA INSEAD, eMBA Tsinghua Univeristy (Beijing), Advanced Management Program with NTU / Berkeley (USA) and a PhD in Biotechnology and Strategic Management with the University of South Australia.
